Jungle-Harvest macambo comes from Santa Rita in Napo province. There, Kichwa families grow the fruit in their chakras: forest gardens where crops and trees grow together.
Where does our macambo come from?
The origin shown on our packaging leads to the Ecuadorian Amazon. We name Santa Rita and Napo specifically for this product. That gives “from the rainforest” a real place rather than leaving it as a generic description.
Cultivation is part of the Jungle-Harvest story. We source quality macambo directly from Kichwa farmers. What is inside the pack is deliberately simple: natural macambo beans with their own shape, colour and nutty, buttery flavour.
What is a Kichwa chakra?
A chakra is a traditional agroforestry system. Different crops and trees are grown together; farming, food and inherited knowledge are closely connected. The FAO describes the Amazonian chakra system in Napo as agricultural heritage and recognised it as a GIAHS in 2023.

On the back of the Jungle-Harvest packaging, we introduce Floreana Andrea Bara. She carries on the tradition of her grandparents and tends her chakra. Learning together in the cooperative and passing knowledge on to her children are part of her story.
